Welcome to my webpage!
As I write this post, it is January 2019, and we are already approaching Week 4 of Winter term. It seems like it was just September. Where did the time go?
So many exciting things are happening this year. We are in the middle of a search for a new faculty member in EC/ELEM. We are looking for the right fit to join our fantastic team next Fall. Can't wait to see who this search brings our way.
We are working on plans for our 6th annual Early Childhood Inclusion Summer Institute in August 2019. Lots of new and exciting things happening around the Summer Institute this year. Stay tuned!
Our program has welcomed our second cohort of early childhood students from Tianhua College in Shanghai to our program. They joined our existing Early Childhood Cohort to complete their final year in the Early Childhood Studies program here at WOU.
We have more than tripled the size of our early childhood program over the past three years and have welcomed a number of new faculty. This year we are welcomed Dr. Andrea Emerson as full-time tenure line faculty member, and as I mentioned we are starting the search for one more tenure line faculty member. I am so proud of of our program, our faculty, and our students.
So many exciting things happening. Let's get this school year started!
Take care,
Cindy
September 2017:
I have been an early childhood/early childhood special educator for 20 years, a school administrator, and am now teaching in higher education and loving it! As I mentioned on another page, I am passionate about young children of all abilities, their families, and those special people who work with them.
I have worked closely with Head Start and other early childhood programs to support the field of early childhood. Areas of interest of mine include: inclusion, creating community and belongingness in early childhood programs, transition to kindergarten, Head Start, teacher-child relationships, and reflective practice.
Besides teaching, I enjoy consulting with early childhood programs to support teachers and families. I have presented at the local, state, and national/international level on topics I am passionate about. Check out my CV for more information.
